Datamaxx Named Technology Business of the Year

Tallahassee, Florida - (June 19, 2002) - The Datamaxx Group (Datamaxx) recently was chosen as the 2002 Technology Business of the Year by the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. The annual business excellence award is presented to the technology company that best contributes to the economic prosperity of the Tallahassee community through entrepreneurial spirit and determination.
"We are pleased to be recognized for our commitment to providing first-rate technology, service and support to our client base. The continuing success of Datamaxx is the result of a collaborative effort by a number of devoted individuals," said Kay Stephenson, president and CEO of Datamaxx.
Datamaxx, comprised of Datamaxx Applied Technologies, Datamaxx Enterprise Intelligence and Datamaxx Professional Services, is the premier provider of communication systems, support and consulting to law enforcement, criminal justice and government organizations. Headquartered in Tallahassee, Florida, the privately held, Florida-certified and woman-owned minority enterprise offers the depth of industry expertise, breadth of product capabilities, and the ability to bring it all together with world-class integration and support.
Founded in August 1991, Datamaxx has grown from a local Tallahassee company of five employees to a national leader in providing technology solutions to law enforcement and criminal justice agencies with nearly 90 employees working at its corporate headquarters. Datamaxx has additional employees at satellite offices in Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, Ohio, and West Virginia and serves more than 100,000 end users in 35 states, Canada and Guam, including every law enforcement agency in the State of Florida.
With over 10,000 installations serving more than 70% of the law enforcement communications market, the Datamaxx Group has been setting the standard for the industry nationwide since its inception. Superb engineering, significant investments in research and development, and the talent of dedicated industry professionals have led to numerous accolades and rave reviews, but most importantly, fierce customer loyalty. During the hours immediately following the events of September 11, 2001, Datamaxx worked in conjunction with various wireless carriers to bring the New York City Police Department and the New York Office of Emergency Management back "on-line" and in communication with each other.
In November of 2001, Datamaxx relocated to its state-of-the-art, $5.6 million, 32,500 square foot corporate headquarters in the Offices at SouthWood. The facility includes an advanced technology center with videoconferencing capabilities used for training and recruitment, distance learning, as well as customer marketing presentations, customer training curriculums, etc. The center also is available to the community for use by appointment.
To ensure it recruits and retains only the most highly qualified employees, Datamaxx takes special stock in implementing innovative ideas and premier incentive programs to maintain an ideal work environment. The corporate headquarters includes a complete, on-site fitness center with separate men and women shower and locker facilities and is open to employees and their spouses seven days a week. Employees are offered continuing education opportunities, aid and assistance as well as full medical coverage and vacation, personal and sick days.
